Malawi

The Pallottine mission in Malawi began in 2016, when the German–Austrian Province established a foundation in Kaphatika, located in the Ntchisi District of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe. The region, encompassing nearly two million Catholics, had historically been underserved; for 78 years, only a single Catholic church had operated in the surrounding villages.

The mission’s early development included the reopening of Kabumba Primary School, originally founded by Catholic missionaries in 1945 but later closed due to declining enrollment. The Pallottines restored the school to full operation (grades 1–8) and expanded pastoral capacity from 150 to 400 parishioners. They later initiated the construction of a postulancy house, which received its first candidates in 2020.
The Malawian mission continues to integrate pastoral, educational, and developmental work characteristic of the Pallottine approach to integral human development.
