Mozambique
The Pallottine mission in Mozambique was inaugurated just before the new millennium through the Brazilian Province, which entered the Diocese of Inhambane in Southern Mozambique. Initial efforts were concentrated on pastoral outreach to numerous outstations.
Missionaries faced significant challenges in the early years, including linguistic and cultural adjustments and the deaths of three confreres. After this period of hardship, the mission expanded substantially: the Society established four additional parishes, opened a formation house, and strengthened collaboration with the Pallottine Sisters. Their work now incorporates sacramental ministry as well as broader social and pastoral development.
