Pope Leo XIV: World Mission Sunday & 7 New Saints!
Braccio di Carlo Magno
“Defend the truths of the faith!”
On World Mission Sunday, Pope Leo XIV canonized seven new saints! Blesseds Ignazio Choukrallah Maloyan, Peter to Rot, Vincenza Maria Poloni, Maria del Monte Carmelo Rendiles Martinez, Maria Troncati, Jose Gregorio Hernandez Cisneros, and Bartolo Longo were raised to the altar, who — during their lifetimes — “kept the lamp of faith burning.”
“These faithful friends of Christ,” shared Pope Leo, “were martyrs for their faith, like Bishop Ignazio Choukrallah Maloyan and catechist Peter To Rot; they were evangelizers and missionaries, like Sister Maria Troncatti; they were charismatic founders, like Sister Vincenza Maria Poloni and Sister Maria del Monte Carmelo Rendiles Martínez; with their hearts burning with devotion, they were benefactors of humanity, like Bartolo Longo and José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros.”
From atop the Braccio di Carlo Magno in St. Peter’s Square, We Are A Mission participated in this Holy Mass for the Missions, and for the new saints who will “assist us in our trials, inspire us in our shared vocation to holiness.”
