World Mission Sunday

The 99th

Instituted by Pope Pius XI in 1926, World Mission Sunday takes place on the second to last Sunday of October each year.

Read Pope Francis’ 2025 Message, which continues the theme of hope for the Jubilee Year.

“Missionaries of Hope Among All Peoples”

Resources

  • If all the Church's members are consecrated for the mission, then they are all responsible for carrying Christ to the world through their own personal efforts. Participation in this right/duty, is called "missionary cooperation" and this necessarily stems from holiness of life

    St. Pope John Paul II

  • “I see clearly that the church needs most today is the ability to heal wounds and to warm the hearts of the faithful; it needs nearness, proximity. I see the church as a field hospital after battle."

    Pope Francis

  • "Help each other to live and to grow in the Christian faith so as to be valiant witnesses of the Lord. Be united, but not closed. Be humble, but not fearful. Be simple, but not naive. Be thoughtful, but not complicated. Enter into dialogue with others, but be yourselves."

    Pope Benedict XVI
