September with Bl. Paolo Manna
“The history of the Church is nothing but a magnificent realization of those words of her Divine Founder: instruct all peoples.”
Bl. Paolo Manna, Founder of the Pontifical Missionary Union — of which St. Vincent Pallotti is its Patron — was a zealous forerunner in the proclamation that all the baptized are missionaries. When illness ended his time in the Burmese mission, he returned to Italy and providentially redirected his fervor to missionary animation. It was there that his extensive, spiritual reach in promoting our baptismal mandate was imbued in hearts, and would come to inspire Vatican II’s Ad Gentes decree.
To discover his charism in greater depth, the International Secretariat of the PMU has provided “a thought for each day” for the month of September. It’s available for download in diverse languages below, as we pursue the continued graces of this Jubilee Year!
* A word from Fr. Anh Nhue, PMU International Secretariat: “We thank Fr. Maciej Będziński, National Director, and Fr. Luca Bovio IMC, National Secretary of PMU Poland, for the initiative and collaboration, and above all Sr. Monika Juszka RMI, National Secretary of POSI Poland, for the preparation of the text, and all who helped with the translations.”
